Idols
Short story about an older man who inherits a mansion from his great-grandfather and decides to renovate it with the help of a handyman.
Tim Gautreaux's Julian inherits the only grand thing in his family's history—a decaying mansion. "You ought to get a nice little brick house on a half acre," Mr. Poxley says. "I hope history can keep you out of a draft." Julian sells typewriters on a business route in Memphis. "Typewriters," Poxley repeats, as if he'd said buggy whips.
