Wyclef Jean, the hip-hop star, claimed death threats and said he was in hiding—actually at his family's house outside Port-au-Prince. To Haitians, political death threats are a joke. Politicians want to be on a death list; it means you are serious. Jean had proved himself a quick study in old-fashioned posturing.
